7 Day Cleanse: Day 1 (Fruit only)

When my friend at work asked me to do a cleanse with her, the first thought in my mind was 'GET REAL'... I tried a cleanse a couple years ago that was supposed to be 3 days of only fruits and veggies. What it really was was two days of torture followed by failure in the form of a foot-long sub. I was exhausted with no energy and the pounding headache only went away after my feast and subsequent food coma. So my experience with cleanses has been pretty pathetic. After listening to my friend describe hers though, it seemed different, and like I just maybe had a chance for success.

It promises you'll be at least 10 lbs lighter by the end of seven days... really??? It's worth a shot! Can't wait to see if I can do it and if 10 lbs is really realistic. The first day starts with only fruit... you can eat as much as you want and only drink water, black tea, or black coffee. I went to Whole Foods last night to stock up for today and my shopping cart was colorful like a rainbow, and I was optimistic about it filling me up for the day.

This morning I made myself some coffee... sadly devoid of any delicious vanilla creamer. I gulped some water, and started munching on my fruit tray. The cleanse said eating lots of melon increased your chance of weight loss significantly, and luckily the cantaloupe tasted delicious.



I was buzzing from the coffee throughout the day and kept snacking on the fruit. By 5pm, however, I started to feel the grumblings in my tummy and the familiar drained feeling. I'm keeping my spirits up though... tomorrow is only veggies, starting with a baked potato. I'm looking forward to seeing results! Stay tuned for more updates on how this crazy cleanse is going :)
